Arthur Scott “Big Scott” Carrier Sr. was born on November 22, 1946, in Picayune, Mississippi. He transitioned peacefully on April 12, 2024, in Waggaman, LA where he resided for over forty years.
Big Scott was born to Sadie and Victor Carrier as one of eight children.
At the age of 18, Big Scott met the love of his life Elaine. Their world’s collided at a small donut shop he frequented on the corner of Jackson Avenue and 2nd Street in New Orleans. Around that same time, he spent time working at a local auto shop developing the auto mechanical skills he would be renowned for for the rest of his life.
During his 77 years of life, Big Scott was an incredibly hardworking man. He worked for 20 years at New Orleans Building Supply and went on to work at Avondale Shipyard for another 25 years as an expeditor for operators before retiring.
He was an amiable soul who never met a stranger. He was truly a man dedicated to his family and friends alike. He demonstrated this through his unwavering love for his children and grandchildren whom he raised in the light of the Lord. Big Scott was always ready to lend a listening ear and help anyone in need. His generous and loving spirit was the reason he was loved so dearly by many more than his immediate family.
Overall, Big Scott was a man who lived his life happily by spending time with his family. He loved to pass time gardening with his wife and spending time with his great-granddaughter, Anastasia.
He will be dearly missed by all of his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters, in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
