On Sunday, May 26, 2019, Arthur Mattern (AJ) passed away peaceful at the age of 75, after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Gwen Giroir Mattern, his son, Sean Mattern (Rachel), two grandchildren Victoria and Trent Mattern and sister Elvina Brady.
He retired from the Hotel Monteleone after 46 years. AJ is a veteran of the Vietnam War and served four years in the Air Force.
AJ was a resident of New Orleans and Chalmette, but he moved to Picayune, MS after Hurricane Katrina.
AJ is preceded in death by his parents Frances Moll Harney and Arthur F. Mattern.
Visitation will be held Thursday, June 6th at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 1000 Goodyear Blvd., Picayune, MS 39466 from 11 a.m. -1 p.m. a mass will follow at 1 p.m.
