Bettie Jean Fleming

Our beloved Mother and Grandmother, Bettie Jean Fleming, the Daughter of Lorin Sam Smith and Lottie Sharon Bond Smith, was born on December 12,1943. Bettie passed away at the age of 79, on September 7, 2023. She peacefully passed at home surrounded by family in Perkinston, Mississippi. Bettie was respected and loved by her community. Bettie served our community as a waitress for over 33 years along the Gulf Coast and New Orleans. She had a heart of gold and would help anyone in any way she could. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Theodore Fleming , her son, James Matthew Fleming and her sister, Barbara Joe Hartmann. Bettie is survived by her children, Rhonda Fleming, Pamela Fleming Bell and Martin Bell, Connie Marzella, Patrick Fleming and Margaret Fleming. She is survived by her siblings, Lorin Sam Smith, Andy Smith and Betty Witschner. She is also survived by her grandchildren James Matthew Fleming II and Lauren Fleming , Christy Townsend, James Evitts II, Tony Marzella and Avery Marzella , Dennis Brotzman, Megan Powell , Michael Bell, Martin Bell Fleming, Jessika Bell and Chrystal Tanner and the great grandmother of many great grandchildren, neices and nephews. Bettie will be truly missed by her family. Rest in peace. We love and miss you dearly!
