Billy Joe "BJ" McQueen (73) of Nicholson went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday May 29, 2024. Born and raised in Picayune to parents Curtis McQueen and Doris Clubb McQueen, BJ was a lifelong resident who served Picayune for thirty-eight of those years influentially known as "BJ the Insurance Man.”
Union National was more than just a job to him, they were his family.
Aside from selling insurance, he loved spending his time hunting in Monticello with his buddies, fishing, going on cruises, traveling, seeing the mountains, and bringing his children on many adventures. He was known to be a selfless person while upholding several titles. He was a devoted husband to Alicia McQueen for fifty years, the best father, friend, and an adoring grandfather. BJ will forever be remembered for his unwavering faith and love for his community.
He is preceded in death by his wife of fifty years Alicia McQueen, son Jody McQueen, father Curtis McQueen, mother Doris Clubb McQueen, and brother James Berkley McQueen.
BJ's memory will be cherished by his daughters Melanie S. McQueen Taylor, Stephanie A. McQueen Ladner (Schran), sisters Beverly Metzler, Barbara Kennedy, and grandchildren Kaylan Ladner, Kayde Ladner, and Austin Taylor.
A funeral in his honor will be officiated by Bro. Kenton Spence and will be held at Corinth Baptist Church located at 1080 River Rd, Picayune, MS 39466 on Tuesday June 4, 2024 at 2PM. Visitation will begin at 12PM. Burial to follow at Turtleskin Cemetery.
