Carol C. Devenport passed away Friday March 15th, 2024 surrounded by loved ones, at the age of 87. Carol had the honor of being born on the same day we celebrate Jesus's birth on Christmas Day. Born in California but spent more then 80 years not far from the New Orleans Metro area she called home.
Carol knew from a young age that she wanted a traditional family. She was raised by her grandparents and aunts, and though it was a very loving relationship her desire was to have a family and live the "American dream”.
She achieved many of her goals in life, but it wasn’t always easy.
She married Joseph S. Devenport Jr. , who had a daughter and a son from a previous marriage. It wasn’t long before the family grew to include an additional 2 daughters and another son. Carol had her family, and while they were not well off they didn’t know it. She made many sacrifices to make sure her children never went without. She made their lives rich with her generosity and grace.
It is an undeniable fact that she loved her children, grandchildren, and her great grands more than life itself. She was also a great role model who was faithful and trustworthy to the end.
She enjoyed photography and creating family slideshows, writing, line dancing and karaoke.
Carol was a little sugar with a good bit of spice and she passed on many of those traits to her family. One thing they can all agree on is they knew they were loved, and for that they are forever grateful.
Carol leaves behind a large loving family.
