Charles Lawrence “Larry” Pidcoe Jr, age 76, passed away on June 11, 2023 in Picayune, MS.
Larry was born in Lowell, Massachusetts on October 21, 1946. He was a loving and devoted
brother, husband, father, grandfather, and most importantly, great-grandfather. He is preceded
in death by his parents, Charles L. Pidcoe Sr., and Gertrude Smith Pidcoe, his sister, Wendy
Cimini, and his dear wife, Donna Monaghan Pidcoe.
In 1964, at age 17 and after graduating high school, Larry enlisted in the United State Navy
where he served as a Radarman on board the USS Boston until 1969. He remained in the
Naval Reserves until he re-enlisted in the United States Coast Guard in 1972. There, he served
until he retired as Chief Petty Officer and Senior Special Agent in 1987.
Larry was a decorated veteran and his time in the military was full of many accomplishments.
Just a few decorations and medals he received were: Combat Action Ribbon, Armed Forces
Expeditory Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and two 5/16” Gold
Medals. Throughout his military career, he enrolled, and later taught, several education courses.
A few of those included: Anti-Submarine Warfare, Anti-Submarine Air Control, Advanced Small
Arms Instructor, and Arson Investigator.
During his time in the service, he met the love of his life, Donna Monaghan Pidcoe. They were
happily married in March of 1987. In November of 1996, he and Donna adopted their two
grandchildren, Mark (Dawn) and Ashley (Justin). Larry was especially proud of them and was
thrilled to meet both of his great-grandsons, Wyatt and Mark.
Larry was a tough, intelligent man. He preferred the term, “bad ass.” He had a dark sense of
humor and was filled with wit. He touched the lives of many and will be remembered as a truly
good man. He loved his family fiercely. He will be deeply missed, but he left us with lots of
memories we will all cherish forever.
Larry will be interred, at a later date, at the Biloxi National Cemetery during a private family
ceremony.
