Daniel Joseph Wheeler

Daniel Joseph Wheeler, Jr., 72, of Carriere, Mississippi (formerly of Plaquemines, Louisiana), passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 in University Medical Center in New Orleans.
Danny was born October 23, 1950 in Port Sulphur, Louisiana. Retired as an operator with Phillips 66 / Alliance Refinery for 39 years; a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; and a member of the Honda Goldwing Club.
He was a resident of Plaquemines Parish for 45 years and spent the last 27 years as a resident of Carriere, Mississippi. He was an avid saltwater fisherman and moved onto motorcycles. He loved the breeze in his face and loved to sit out on the Lakefront and the Gulf Coast. He looked forward to attending Crusin' the Coast every October. He loved meeting his friends every year in Cherokee, North Carolina for a week long ride through the mountains and riding the "Tail of the Dragon".
He was the most honest man to walk the earth. He was a loyal friend, with a strong, unbreakable love for his family and after 50 years, still referred to his wife as "his bride".
He is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Joseph Wheeler, Sr. and Vivian Hingle Wheeler; and one daughter, Jill Danielle Wheeler.
Survivors include his loving wife, Glenda Blackshear Wheeler; one son, Jarrod Daniel Wheeler; one sister, Donna (Harry) Lalonde; and two grandsons, Mason Wheeler Shigley and Evan Daniel Wheeler.
Graveside services will be held at West Union Baptist Church Cemetery (560 West Union Road, Carriere, MS, 39426) on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 2:00 pm. The family would like to invite anyone to bring a chair if needed.
