Edward Louis Barrett of Carriere, Mississippi passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at the age of 73.
Mr. Barrett was born in Henderson, Texas on July 14, 1948, to Eddie Lee and Doris Kern Barrett and his brother, David Lee Barrett.
He is survived by his loving wife of thirty-five years, Camille Malaspina Barrett, married in Henderson, Texas by his uncle, Judge Barrett on June 4, 1986; sons, Justin Oliver Barrett (Kelva) of Lancashire, England, now serving in the British Royal Army, Jeffrey Singley (Nicole) of Mandeville, Louisiana; stepchildren, Mark Bottoni (Maria), Rick Bottoni, and Michelle Bottoni-Florio (Fred) of Texas and Florida; brother-in-law, Richard A. Moody, sister-in-law, Catherine Marie Harris and Georgia Barrett; cousins, Pastor Paul Kern,Don Kern, and Donna Kern Gracie Kern Mason; many nieces and nephews, Rebecca Barrett, Alysa Barrett Atwood, Santina Bowman, and Michael Harris; grandchildren, Felicia and Bianca Bottoni, Oliver James Barrett; and great-grandson, Santino Rocky Matias, serving in the Marine Corps.
Mr. Barrett was educated in New Orleans, Louisiana, received an LSU Scholarship for Basketball and later played professionally in the ABA for New Orleans. He was an avid fisherman and loved teaching children to fish. He loved his little fishing buddy's, Dawson and Gatlin Penton.
Mr. Barrett was a humble and gentle man who loved his family and friends, especially Ella Mae Penton and Maddie Jo Fox with their special southern cooking.
We appreciate the love and prayers given by all in the past years. He will always live in our hearts as we remember him.
Services will be held by family at a later date.
