Edward Lacy King III, of Carriere, Mississippi went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 6, 2022, at the age of 76 while on a cruise to Mexico.
Edward was a longtime resident of Carriere, Mississippi after moving from New Orleans, Louisiana in 1999. He was as a member of Christian Life Assembly of God Church and a member of The Gideons International.
Edward is survived by his wife, Aurora Bunag King; son Edward Lacy King IV; daughter Mary Edith Tims; sisters, Janice Irene King, Sandra King Owens and Doris King; and grandchildren, Melody Aurora Tims and Daphne Elizabeth Tims.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Dr. Edward Lacy King and Edith Follett King; his parents Edward Lacy King, Jr. and Helen Fry King; and is sister Karen Virginia King O'Boyle.
Edward was born in New Orleans, LA on July 19, 1945. He graduated from Milikan High School in Long Beach, California and from the University of New Orleans with a Master's Degree in Mathematics. He worked as a programmer for IBM and held various teaching jobs at colleges in New Orleans. He was married to Aurora, a nurse and educator, for 45 years. Together, they had a son, Edward IV and a daughter, Mary Edith Tims, who is married to Patrick Lorenzo Tims. Edward has two granddaughters, Melody and Daphne Tims.
Edward was a devoted husband, father, and avid chess player. He enjoyed sharing the Gospel Message, especially during travels and tutoring sessions. He volunteered his time freely to anyone in need; from delivering food to shut-ins to visiting with seniors at the local community center. He was a diligent student of the Bible and jumped at every opportunity for a bible study. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
A memorial service is planned for January 22, 2022, at Christian Life Assembly of God Church, followed by internment of his cremains at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
