Edwin John Cantrell

Edwin John Cantrell, age 79, passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2017 from Muscular Dystrophy. He was resident of St Bernard Parish until moving to Carriere, Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina.

Eddie was a veteran of the US Army and spent his career as a machinist with Boeing and Lockheed Martin. He retired in 2003 to spend time with family, travel, and enjoy his lifelong passion of fishing. He loved the tranquility of his back yard on the lake and working in his vegetable garden. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church of Picayune.

He was the beloved husband of Gloria Ballard Cantrell of Picayune, Loving father of Edwin Cantrell, Jr of Chalmette, Lori Cantrell Ellisor (Perry) of Picayune, Jolie Cantrell Clack (David) of Lacombe, and Annie Cantrell (Force) of Metairie. He is brother of Frank Cantrell of Chalmette, Vita Lauga of Chalmette, and Diane Taylor of Ruston. He was blessed with 6 grandchildren, Jason E. Cantrell, Katie Cantrell (Brad), Jennie Cantrell (George), Missy Lacoste (Brian), Aiden Force, Riot Force, and 4 great-grandchildren, Brookelynn, Landon, Roman, and Ryder. Ed is loved and will be sorely missed by a host of other family, friends, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and loyal dog Benji.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Beatrice Cantrell; and sister, Joyce Bentivegna.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service Saturday August 26, 2017 at Picayune Funeral Home Chapel 815 S. Haugh Ave. A visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. with Brother Shad Kennedy officiating.
