Harry Carl Coons, a resident of the Picayune, MS, area, passed from this world on September 17, 2012. Carl, as he was known to his family growing up, was born to Harry and Susan (Younghawk) Coons on May 25, 1923, in Maramec, OK. Upon finishing high school in Pawnee, OK, he attended Haskell Institute in Lawrence, KS, majoring in commercial studies. His education interrupted by WWII, Carl worked briefly at Sunflower Ordinance Plant near Lawrence before entering the U. S. Army and serving in the European Theater of Operations. He continued his education after the war graduating from Oklahoma A&M College. Carl and Juanita Givens were married in 1961 in the Houston, TX, area. He served as a loving parent to his stepchildren and their families. Carl and Juanita retired from the hair salon business in Fort Worth, TX, and moved to the Picayune area to in 2005. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Juanita, his parents and brothers Arthur Coons, George Coons (WWII) & John Coons. Surviving him are his stepchildren Jeanette Molero of Chalmette, LA, David Givens of Bay St. Louis, MS, Frances Burden of Waycross, GA, and Kathleen Roark of Meraux, LA, and their families. Also surviving are his sister-in-law Marcellene Coons (wife of Arthur) of Ponca City, OK, nephews and niece Duncan Coons of Perry, OK, Marcia Clarke of Little Rock, AR, Dale Coons of Ponca City, OK, and William (Bill) Coons of Kingwood, TX, and their families. Harry Carl Coons' caregiver in his declining years was step grandson, Donnie Reed. Interment will take place in Waycross, GA. Carl will be missed by his numerous friends and family.
