Hershel Jack Overton

Hershel Jack Overton, age 81, of Picayune, Mississippi passed away Saturday, October 11, 2014.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 15, 2014 from 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Picayune Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Bro. Wayne Rice officiating. Entombment will be at Memorial Gardens Mausoleum under the direction of Picayune Funeral Home
Mr. Overton was born in Cullman County, Alabama and had lived in Picayune for 60 years, a member of the American Legion, a mechanic, and a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War and served with his unit 14th Engineers, 1st Combat/Battalion.
He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Jean Light Overton of Picayune; sons, Randy (Sherry) Overton of Picayune, and Glenn Overton of Picayune; grandson, Joseph Brockett; and great-granddaughter, Jaycelyn Brockett.
He is preceded in death by seven brothers; and two sisters.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital or Picayune American Legion.
