Homer Richard Keough, Sr.
Homer Richard Keough, Sr. (Ricky) was born January 2, 1951, in Memphis, TN. He died on March 18, 2022, in his home, in Carriere, MS of natural causes. He was 71 years old. Born of deaf parents, American Sign Language (ASL) was Richard's first language. Richard graduated from Murrah High School in Jackson, MS, in 1969, and attended the University of Mississippi. Richard was a true Ole Miss fan, watching the games and supporting the Rebels!
While living in Jackson, MS, he was a champion bass tournament fisherman at the Ross Barnett Reservoir. He had a passion for the water, working as a boat captain in Orange Beach, AL. for 30 years. Richard was proud to take fishing groups to his secret spots out in the gulf to catch a variety of species.
He was a lifetime outdoorsman and enjoyed sharing his experience and love for hunting. Richard was a loving father, husband, grandfather, son, and brother. He always had a dog by his side. After moving to Alabama, he enjoyed his hunting camp where he spent many weekends in the woods. In 2021, Richard settled in Carriere, MS, where he was near family. He enjoyed spending time his family.
Richard was preceded in death by parents Peggy Ann Hillman Keough and Homer Hugh Keough, Jr. (Orange Beach, AL, and Memphis, TN). He also was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Harrel Massey Keough, (1992) and wife, Glenda Renee Wyatt Keough, (2020).
Richard is survived by daughter, Melissa Keough, sons Bo (April) and Jonathan (Shanna) Keough, 9 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and his sister, Margaret Keough Collier. Additionally, he leaves behind a niece, nephew, great-nephew and many cousins.
A celebration of life service will be held at Central Baptist Church in Carriere, MS, April 8, 2022, at 3 PM.
A burial-at-sea will be held in Orange Beach, AL. Contact the family for details. An intimate scattering of ashes will take place on family property in Perry Co., MS.
The Keough family gives special thanks to the doctors and caregivers for providing the best care possible for Richard when he required assisted living. Baptist Hospital (Jackson, MS) and St. Oaks Care Center (Carriere, MS).
