Jay Berkman

Jay Berkman, age 87, of Carriere, Mississippi passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2015.
A memorial service will be held by the family on Saturday, March 14th from 10 to 11 am at Chapel in the Pines, located at Sun Roamers RV Park, 41 Mississippi Pines Boulevard. Picayune, Mississippi.
Mr. Berkman was born in Charleston, SC and a resident of Pearl River County for the past 10 years, and an employee at NAVOCEANO for 46 years.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Frierson Berkman of Carriere; his sister Yetta Slott of Tampa, Florida; two sons, Mike Berkman (Linda Griebel) of Wetumpka, Alabama, and Jeff Berkman (Nikki) of Los Angeles, California; one daughter, Debra Berkman of Slidell, Louisiana; one step-son, Timothy Frierson (Dee Dee) of Picayune; three step-daughters, Lisa Snellings (Danny), Peggy Penton (Dallas), and Judy Duckett (Billy) of Picayune, Mississippi; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents Sidney and Dora Berkman and by his first wife Minnie L. Thompson Berkman.
Jay was a gentleman and a role model. He will always be remembered with the deepest respect and admiration. He was an amazing man with such a beautiful soul and a great wit.
