Jerry Levon Smith Sr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on March 28, 2025, at the age of 72. He was born on February 9, 1953, in Mobile, Alabama, and found his way to Picayune, Mississippi, where he resided for many years.
Jerry was a man of deep faith who loved the Lord and found solace in reading his Bible. His unwavering devotion to his family was evident in everything he did, particularly his adoration for his wife of 39 years, Marlene "Debbie" Smith. Together, they built a loving household filled with warmth and support.
Throughout his life, Jerry's passions spanned various interests. He took immense joy in gardening, tending to his plants with care and dedication. His skills as a mechanic were matched only by his enthusiasm for hands-on work, which reflected his strong character and willingness to lend a helping hand to those in need.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Marlene "Debbie" Smith; children, Jerry Smith Jr. and Laura Smith; brothers, Perry Smith and Terry Smith; grandchildren, Tyler Smith, Savanna Smith, Madyson Smith, Spencer Smith, Jory Smith, Josh Surrett, and Brianna Britt; and great-grandchildren, Alexis and Alijah. The love he cultivated within his family will thrive and endure through the generations, a lasting legacy of his life’s work.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Garnett Harold Smith and Esther Ree Coleman, and his son, Garnett Smith. Their memories live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held on March 31, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Picayune Funeral Home located at 815 S. Haugh Ave., Picayune, MS. Following the visitation, a funeral service will take place at the same location from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
