In Loving Memory of Judith Ann "Judi" Berghman Verdin
Judith Ann "Judi" Berghman Verdin, born on May 3, 1957, in New Orleans, Louisiana, embarked on her final journey on March 21, 2024 while in residence at the Bedford Care Center of Picayune, Mississippi. A cherished daughter, sister, wife, aunt, Nana and friend, Judi's life was a tapestry woven with love, devotion, and faith.
As a child, Judi's robust presence was felt throughout the small community of Venice, LA, and her adolescent years were shaped by the vibrant community of Gretna, LA. It was in that time that she met and fell in love with her now-deceased husband, Melvin T. Verdin. Together, they created a life in the idyllic town of Laffite, LA, where they shared countless joys and weathered life's storms hand in hand.
Judi is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mel Verdin, her parents John William and Virgie Gartoucies Berghman of Terrytown, LA, and her two brothers, John W. “Johnny Boy” Berghman Jr. and Daryl Jude Berghman (Mona). She is survived by her three brothers, Danny Berghman (Danna) of Nairn, LA, Donnie Berghman (Patsy Dianne) of Carriere, MS, and Joseph “Joey” Berghman (Joetta) of Summit, MS. Judi leaves behind a legacy of love that extends to a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews, each touched by her warmth and kindness.
A lifelong devout Catholic, Judi found solace and strength in her faith. Her days were enriched by the love shared with her late husband, her one true love, and their two cherished dogs, Tinkerbell and Porkchop. Judi's unwavering love and commitment to her family and faith created a tapestry of memories that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew her.
In honoring Judi's wishes, she will be laid to rest at St. Pius Cemetery in Crown Point, LA. A memorial service celebrating Judi's life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to your personal animal shelter of choice, a cause close to Judi's heart.
As we bid farewell to Judi, we remember her for the love she shared, the lives she touched, and the indelible mark she leaves on our hearts. May she find eternal peace in the embrace of her heavenly reunion with Melvin and her family.
Rest in peace, dear Judi.
