Kenneth Harold Mitchell, Sr., 76, of Carriere, died on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 in University Medical Center, New Orleans
He was born September 15, 1946 in Picayune, Mississippi. He retired as platoon Sergeant First Class in the Mississippi Army National Guard and enjoyed operating his portable saw mill.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Toxie and Dorothy Meitzler Mitchell and one brother, Leland Albert Mitchell.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Lynda Kennedy Mitchell; two children, Kenneth H. (Debra) Mitchell, Jr., Vanessa A. Polk; three sisters, Susan (Preston) Spiers, Gwen Mitchell, Barbara (Malcolm) Croas; three grandchildren, Michael Mitchell, Olivia Polk, Cody (Ashley) Wesselman; two great grandchildren, Johnny Wesselman and Scarlett Wesselman; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Lee's Chapel, No. 1 Baptist Church (11 Herb Lee Fred Spiers Road, Carriere, MS, 39426) on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at 2:00 pm. Brother Cody Ladner will officiate the service. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until services, Sunday at the church.
