Laurie "Mickey" Anne Mitchell

Laurie "Mickey" Anne Mitchell of Picayune, Mississippi passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at the age of 60. She was a longtime resident of the Leetown community. She was born in New Orleans LA to the late Emmette Allen Prestwood and Hearl Troulliet Prestwood. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Calvin "Butch" Prestwood and Clayton Prestwood.
Left to cherish her memory is her long-time partner and the love of her life, Jason Varnado; Her sons, B.J. Mitchell (Susie Graves), Allen Mitchell (Heather Neal), Christopher Mitchell ( Shelbi Mitchell) and Eric Holden; her daughter, Dawn Mitchell; sisters, Marie Patecek, and Patty Pugh (David Pugh); sister-in-law's, Annie and Mary Prestwood; and six grandchildren Felicity Mitchell, Calvin Mitchell, Cayden Bowman, Ava Mitchell, E.J. Holden and Harald Holden, who were her entire world. Along with a host of numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Laurie loved and adored her family with all she had. She enjoyed being surrounded by the company of her loved ones, whether at a social gathering or just a simple phone call. She loved any and all things Mickey, hence her nickname. She never missed a Saints game; you could hear her "Who Dat" chant miles away. Her smile was contagious, and her laughter could fill the room. She was always there if you needed to talk, laugh, or even cry. She was everyone's "Mama Mickey". She always knew just what you needed even if you didn't. She was a compassionate soul who will be deeply and sadly missed by all who knew her.
Please join us to celebrate her beautiful life on Saturday, March 2nd. Visitation will be held at Sycamore Baptist Church 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Services will start at 3:00 p.m. Burial to follow.
