Leo J. Riso, 88, died Monday November 4, 2013, at his home in Picayune, MS.
He was born in New Orleans to Dominick and Virginia Riso. He served in the Navy in WWII as a torpedo tech an went on to become a Navy pilot.. He married Beverly Moreno, in 1944, together they raised 3 sons, Don, David and Jeffry.
Leo is survived by sons David and Jeffry, grand-daughters, Rebecca Riso Smith and Amanda Riso Nazario, daughters of David and Renee Riso; and grandson, Christopher John Riso, son of Jeffry and Ann Riso. He is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren, Nicholas Riso, Kathryn Smith, Mason Riso, Marianna Riso, Ava Nazario, Elena Nazario, and Leo Nazario and his brother, Joseph Riso.
Leo loved to fly, and was a pilot for several major airlines. He retired as a senior pilot from Pan American. In addition to his career as a pilot, he was a successful entrepreneur and businessman, and helped his family in many ways throughout the years. He will be missed by family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Schoen Funeral Home in New Orleans on November 15, 2013. Visitation from 10 am to noon with Mass and interment to follow.
