Lester James Nunez, Sr. unexpectantly passed away January 05, 2022; he was a resident of Pearl River and a lifelong resident of (Ycloskey) St. Bernard Parish. He is survived by his wife Kristy Nunez; his children, Carolyn Russell (Nick), Lester, Jr., Brittany Nunez (Chris), and stepdaughter Demi Del Valle. Poppy to Ava Russell, Kevin and Linda Nunez; Huntar, Skylee, and Angel Barcelona. Son of Bernice Ledet Nunez and the late Johnny Nunez, Sr.; Brother of Johnny, Jr. (Karen), the late Gary, Rhonda Brown (Jimmy), Jeffery and Pamela Hutchinson (Justin, Sr.); Godfather of Jonah Brown and Joshua Hutchinson; and uncle of many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Molly which he greatly adored.
Lester enjoyed his life on the waters growing up with his family, fishing and hunting for fun and work. He spent many years making memories on Lake Borne for blessings of the fleets or just taking that ride to watch the sunrise. He worked many years as a commercial fisherman and as a captain on crew boats. When he wasn't running a crew boat, he was running chartered fishing trips. He knew the waters well and shared his love and knowledge of it with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. If he wasn't working and/or spending time with family, he was cruising the waters on his next big adventure. He was a jokester, the life of the party, making people laugh any time he was in the room. He was always known for his dance moves, vibrant shirts, and a cold Budweiser. He created many memories with his family and friends that will last a lifetime for all of them.
He is preceded in death by his father Johnny Nunez, Sr.; brother Gary Nunez, paternal grandparents John and Josephine (Assavedo) Nunez; maternal grandparents Jeffery and Beatrice (Perez) Ledet
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Friday; January 14, 2022 from 9-12 at Poydras Baptist Church on 8213 Saro Ln. St. Bernard, LA 70085
