Loran "Steve" Campbell

July 25, 1944 — September 13, 2023

Loran "Steve" Campbell, a New Yorker with a southern twang and more charisma than you could shake a cowboy hat at, has bid us farewell. Born on July 25, 1944, he was practically inseparable from his signature cowboy hat, flannels, blue jeans, and trusty tee shirts – a fashion statement that could rival any runway show.

For over the last 35 years Steve was proud to call Pearl River County home. He was even more proud of the friendships and bonds he formed, creating his second family, as your handy dandy trash man.

While Steve may no longer be with us, his spirit lives on through endless tales, laughter, and unforgettable memories. So, let's raise a glass and toast to Steve, a man with a heart of gold and a legacy of love, laughter, and strength.

A Memorial Service will be held at 5 pm on Friday, September 22, 2023, at Picayune Funeral Home, 815 S Haugh Ave, Picayune. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. His daughters, Malissa Campbell and Amanda Robinson, warmly invite you to join in celebrating the life of Steve, the man we have all come to know and love.

The family welcomes any expressions of sympathy you might choose to offer, whether through cards, flowers, or donations. Your support means the world to us as we navigate through this difficult time.

He was born July 25, 1944 in Cortland, New York; a veteran of the United States Army; and was the owner/operator of a trash pickup service.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Donald Campbell and Marjorie Watkins Campbell; and two brothers, Neil Campbell and Skip Bradbury.

Survivors include his children, Malissa Campbell, Amanda Campbell (John Tyler) Robinson, Allison Katinger; one brother, Darryl Campbell; and three “grand furrbabies”, Mocha, Maya, and Minnie.
