Louis Manuel Messa Sr.

Louis Manuel Messa, age 87, of St Tammany Parish, LA, passed away on Sunday, June 18 th , 2023.
Born January 13, 1936, in New Orleans, LA, and raised in Chalmette, LA, he married the love of his life,
Carlin “Joyce” Brouilette, on his 18 th birthday in 1954 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor. Together, they had 4
children, 7 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.
Louis was a loyal employee of Tennecco Oil/Exxon Mobil Oil Refinery in Chalmette, LA for 32 years,
before retiring to a life of golf and relaxation in Carriere, MS, with his beloved wife, Joyce. They later
moved to a quiet country home in Moselle, MS, to live out their golden years. After losing his wife in
2019 and suffering medical complications of his own in 2020, he moved to St Tammany Parish to be
cared for by his children. He loved his family and enjoyed sharing stories and reminiscing with his
children over family dinners.
Louis is survived by his children Louis Messa, Jr (Ann) of Slidell, LA; Deborah Messa Morales (Louis) of
Madisonville, LA; Dena Messa Albright (Michael) of Inwood, West Virginia; Chad Messa (Sherry) of
Moselle, MS; his grandchildren Richard Mocklin, III (Gabby), Holly Messa (Matthew), Morgan
Paternostro (Derek), Maggie Ratcliff, Tristan “Sky” Messa, Noah Albright, and River Messa; and great-
grandchildren Dhax Tribou, Niall Chatelain, Stori Chatelain, Savannah Paternostro, Emery Paternostro,
Tristan Jones, Isabelle Morris, and Jackson Ratcliff.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James Messa, Sr and Victoria Vinsanau Messa; his spouse Carlin
“Joyce” Messa; and his siblings James Messa, Jr, Leo Messa, Kenneth Messa, and Claude Messa.
To respect his wishes, the family will hold a private Celebration of Life at a later date to honor the
memory of our Father/Grandfather/Great-Grandfather.
