Lynn Joseph Cucullu went to be with his Lord on February 16, 2023, at the age of 92 after a recent diagnosis of lung cancer. He passed peacefully, surrounded by his
loved ones.
The son of Lionel Cucullu and Eugenie Cavani Cucullu, Lynn was born in New Orleans, Lousiana, at Touro Infirmary in 1930. He attended St. James Major Catholic School, St. Joseph Seminary College, and St. Aloysius High School, Class of 1948. Lynn attended Louisiana State University upon graduation from St. Aloysius. Lynn worked in the field of engineering for many years. He was appointed Director of Engineering Services at Hotel Dieu Hospital and later became Assistant Administrator for General Services. He continued his career in engineering as Director of Building Services at East Jefferson General Hospital from 1975 until his retirement in 1994. During his engineering career, he served as president of the Louisiana Hospital Engineers Association and later as president of the Building and Plant Managers Association of Greater New Orleans.
Having attended the seminary as a young man, Lynn was devoted to the Catholic faith. He had a very strong relationship with Christ and believed in the power of prayer.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He had a passion for wildlife conservation and enjoyed gardening and growing award-winning orchids.
Lynn was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Mary Lou Cucullu.
He leaves behind his children Glen (Wendy) Cucullu, Anita Preston, Becky (James) Steinkamp, Dale Cucullu; his grandchildren Eric (Christina) Cucullu, Bryan (Ieesha) Cucullu, Matthew Dame, Michael Dame, Madeline Christenberry, Melissa Thebault; great grandchildren Madilynn and Bryanna Cucullu; siblings Anita Frey, Carl Cucullu;
and his pets Little Girl and Tinker Bell. Lynn was also preceded in death by his parents, his great grandson Bryan Matthew Cucullu, Jr., and siblings Alan Cucullu and Lionel
Cucullu.
A memorial service will be held by the family at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 1000 Goodyear Blvd., Picayune, MS 39466, on Friday, March 10, 2023. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. with a Mass following at 10:30 a.m.
