Elizabeth Metcalfe died peacefully at her daughter, Mimsy Adkins home early Saturday morning, July 28, 2012 at the age of 99. She is survived by daughter, Mimsy and son-in-law Marvin Adkins of Picayune, MS; daughter, Telle Stain and son-in-law Vance Stein of Atlanta, GA; Son Ed Metcalfe of Benoit, Ms and son Larry Metcalfe of Greenville, MS.
Grandchildren- Hugh Jones of Greenwood, SC, Scott Jones, Ginger Morris of Hattiesburg, MS, Beau Davis, Liz Stein, Philip Stein of Atlanta, GA and Leslie Kenney of Cumming, GA; Step-grandchildren, Bonita Adkins of Warner Robins, GA, John and Jessica Adkins of Americus, GA and 12 great-grandchildren
Elizabeth was an elementary teacher in Greenville, MS and then in Ft. Walton, FL when she and her husband Laurence moved there. She was also a member of the DAR and St. Simon's Episcopal Church in Ft. Walton. She had always loved dancing and when she retired she began ball room dancing and competed into her nineties.
She will be missed and remembered by her family and friends for her kind and generous spirit and her graciousness and her zest for life. Her favorite scripture was "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
