Mary Louise Moran, 86, went to her eternal home with her Heavenly Father on January 18, 2022. Mary Louise was a lifelong native of Hancock County in the Kiln Community.
Mary Louise graduated from Kiln High School in 1953 as valedictorian and a basketball legend. In 2014, the Mississippi State Senate and House of Representatives commemorated Mary Louise for holding the Mississippi State record for scoring 91-points in a single basketball game in 1951, a record in which she holds to date. Growing up, Mary Louise knew the meaning of hard work. Through her years, she was a caregiver to many. Not only did she provide for her family's needs but the needs of others. For 25 years, Mary Louise fostered veterans in her home. Mary Louise was well known for her homecooked meals and southern hospitality. Her love for the Lord and her family was evident.
Mary Louise is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Oswald "Sonny" Moran Jr.; two children: Jeffrey (Sissy) Moran, and Dana (Hank) Spiers. Nine grandchildren: Brandon (McKinsey) Hendry, Amanda (Matt) D'Angelo, Cara (Matt) Barnett, Kayla (Rayme) Lee, Justin Mitchell, Kyle (Taylor) Moran, Dalton Spiers, and Ethan Spiers; and eleven great-grandchildren.
Mary Louise Moran was proceeded in death by her parents: Xavier and Mable Necaise; three children: Carol Moran (John) Barnett, Joey (Dawn) Moran and Kathy Moran (Mike) Hendry; one grandchild: Deven Moran; one brother: John O. (Cathy) Necaise.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 24th, 2022, at Annunciation Catholic Church in the Kiln, MS from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial starting at noon with graveside burial to follow at the Bayou Coco Cemetery.
