Mary Virginia Smith

Mary Virginia Leonard Smith, 90, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2018, at her home in Carriere, Mississippi, surrounded by family and friends. Mary was a charter member of Hillcrest Road Baptist Church, a graduate of Pearl River Junior College's first nursing class in 1967, and she worked as a registered nurse for many years.

Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Picayune Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Carriere with Bro. Kevin Neary officiating. Burial will be in the Carriere Cemetery under the direction of Picayune Funeral Home.

She is preceded in death by her father Stephen Grey Leonard (WWI Veteran who died before she was born), mother, Clara Mae Bradley Leonard Loveless, husband Tercy Smith, son Lynwood (Lynn) Smith, grandson Duane Smith, sisters, Cammie Leonard, Ruby (Frank) Donath, Dimple (Theo) Holston, Dot (Bob) Mangrum, and brothers, Ed (Winnie) Leonard and Van (Barbara) Loveless.

She is survived by her daughter, Teresa (Robert) Welsh of Hattiesburg, MS; her son, Dean (Loraine) Smith of Montgomery, AL; her son, Bill (Gwen) Smith of Carriere, MS; her daughter, Lisa (Raymond) Miller of Gautier, MS; nine grandchildren, Rob (Dena) Welsh, Neil Welsh, Jeff Smith, Rosemary (Joseph) Anderson, Carson Smith, Adam (Christine) Smith, Ray Miller, Christina Miller Taft and Stacy Miller; and fifteen great grandchildren, Jordan, Eli, Joe, Kiersten, Kaitlyn, Hannah, Halle, Heather, Addie, Charlotte, Marceline, Alora, Warren, Neo and Jordan.
