Mildred Marie Mitchell

Mildred Marie Duncan Mitchell of Picayune, Mississippi went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at the age of 79.
Mildred was a native of Picayune. She was a devoted worker of thirty-two years in the school system and the City of Picayune dedicated a local park in her honor. Mildred loved people, her job, and all the school kids she fed called her granny. She was a Maroon Tide fan and enjoyed sports. Mildred was a very loving and caring mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and aunt. She cherished her friends and church family at Goodyear Baptist Church. She will be greatly missed by many.
She is survived by her children, Cindy Samples (Don) and Dennis Mitchell (Charlene); grandchildren, Heather Estis, Tucker Mitchell, Foster Mitchell, and Mollie Kate Mitchell; niece, Susie Seal and nephew, Roy Duncan, Jr (Robyn).
She is proceeded by her husband, Lester G. Mitchell, and her parents, Roderick and Daisy Duncan; brother, Roy Duncan; niece, Beth Jones; and grandchild, Colby Mitchell.
Visitation will be held 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. Thursday May 26, 2022, at Picayune Funeral Home. Services will be held at Goodyear Baptist Church 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. Friday May 27, 2022, with burial to follow at New Hope Cemetery, Crossroads, Mississippi. Officiated by Pastor Jeremy Williams.
Arrangements are under the direction of Picayune Funeral Home.
