Funeral services for O. B. Goode, Jr., who passed away at his residence February 26, 2009, will be held on
Tuesday, March 3rd at 10:00 a.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church of McNeill, where he had been a faithful member for 48 years. Bro. Mike Phillips, pastor, will be officiating with burial to be at the Veterans' National Cemetery in Biloxi, MS. Visitation will be held at Picayune Funeral Home on Monday, March 2nd from 6:00-9:00 p.m.
He was born in Golden Lake, Arkansas on May 20, 1921 to O. B. Goode, Sr. and Rachael Vandeuer Goode. O. B. served in the 229th Military Police Company of the United States Army stationed in California. After an honorable discharge, he owned and operated an auto repair shop until coming to Mississippi.
Mr. Goode was owner and operator of Nicholson Repair Shop, where he was affectionately known by many as "Mr. Red" until he retired because of poor health. He loved flying his own plane until his eyesight kept him from keeping his pilot's license. He enjoyed going to old engine meets, talk radio and a good political conversation. Mr. O. B. was always ready to share his knowledge of the Lord or give good advice about life in general.
He is survived by a loving wife of 48 years, Grace Goode; his daughter, Charlene and husband, Randall Parsley of Birmingham; his son, Wesley Goode of McNeill; and one sister, Charlene Hall of Dangerfield, TX. He also leaves seven grandchildren, Heather Blair, Jeremy Blair, Vanessa Blair, Andrew Dewoody, Hogan Goode, Nathan Goode, and Amber Ellard; five great-grandchildren, Shelby Mazingo, Michael Dressner, Aiden Dewoody, Bianca Blair and Conner Blair; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by
his stepson, Michael Blair;
father, O. B. Goode, Sr.;
mother, Rachael Vandeuer Goode and
two brothers, Charles Goode and William Goode.
