Pearly Pitts Mitchell, age 87, of Picayune passed away Monday, June 16, 2008 at Biloxi, MS.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, June 19th, at 10:00 a.m. at Picayune Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Kevin Neary, Bro. Dan Finley, Bro. Larry Lassley and Bro. Ricky Ryles officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 18th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Picayune Funeral Home.
Pearly has lived in the Picayune area since 1961. She loved people and enjoyed working at restaurants.
She was the owner of Picayune Restaurant and worked at Hilda's Café, the truck stop at McNeill, and
was a hostess at Hardee's in Picayune. She was also a member of Faith Chapel Church of God in Ozona.
She is survived by her children: Dorothy Pekinto and her husband Joe of Kiln, Eljie Bennett, Sr. and his wife Sue of Picayune, Barbara McLendon and her husband Jim of Carriere, and Wanda Lee and her husband Norman of Carriere; twenty grandchildren; sixty-one great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, John R. Bennett and second husband, Lee Preston Mitchell; two grandchildren, Terry Adele Bowman and Joey D. McLendon; and one great-grandchild, Jackson McLendon.
