Richard was a resident of Perkinston for 11 years, worked in the construction industry, and was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by son, Sean Randall Patterson; daughter, Kristen Nicole Patterson; brother, Malcolm Louis Patterson; and sisters, Nancy Alexander and Judy Doty.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Marvin and Ruby Patterson.
