Rita Scanio Bonano Lapara, 85, of Carriere, MS entered into eternal rest on Friday June 9, 2023. She was a native of Marrero, LA, born March 27, 1938, and was a longtime resident of Bay St Louis and Carriere, MS.
She was a devout Catholic, a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, and prayed the Rosary daily for all who were in need. She always gave unselfishly and did her best to leave the world a better place. She enjoyed traveling, crafts, painting, cooking and most of all her children and their offspring.
She will be greatly missed by her family, the beautiful lady they knew as Momma and Granny.
She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Tenny Scanio, her bother Joseph Anthony (baby) and her sister Rosemary Dupont, her husband Frank A Bonano, Sr., who was the father of her five children, her second husband John “Bay” Lapara, her son and his wife, Gregory and Kim Bonano, and her longtime loving soul mate Norman Guidry.
She is survived by her children, Cindy and Billy Lee, Frank and Victoria Bonano, Elizabeth and Richard Haik, and Glenn and Barilynn Bonano. Grandchildren: Tina and Terry Landry, Billy and Amanda Lee, Melissa and Gabe Cranmer, Brad Bonano, Jaime and Michael Dupre, Chad and Kristal Bonano, Kristie and Brian Veron, Katie and Earl Kettley, Kimberlie and Sean Kilroy, Michael and Amanda Bonano, Kellie and Ricky Underwood, Jessica Bonano, Jonathan Funk, Amanda and David Necaise, and Glenn Bonano Jr., 34 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A mass will be held on Saturday June 17, 2023, at 11:00 AM at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, 910 Cross Gates Blvd, Slidell, LA 70461.
