Rita M. Prats, age 77, of Picayune, MS passed away Monday, July 18, 2011 in Slidell, Louisiana.
A memorial service will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Picayune, Mississippi on Friday, July 22, 2011 at 10:30 a.m.
Rita was born in New Orleans, LA and moved to Picayune, MS fourteen years ago. She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Red Hats Society- The Swinging Mississippi Belles, KC Ladies Auxiliary, Bereavement Ministry, St. Joseph Altar Society, President of St. Jude League, Times Picayune Doll and Toy Fund, Beta Sigma Phi, Bell South telephone pioneers and retired from Bell South.
She is survived by one son, Anthony Prats of Picayune; four daughters, Judith Blackburn of Houston, Rosalie Landry of Slidell, Renee Doucet of New Orleans and Sandra Monahan of Metairie; two sisters, Doris Labat of Tickfaw and Sylvia Triche of Geismar; Nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Rene E. Prats, Jr. and one son Joseph P. McCubbin.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to the Times Picayune Doll and Toy Fund, P.O. Box 616065 New Orleans, LA 70161-9979.
