On Friday, June 21st, Robert John Lombardino passed from this earth surrounded by his family in his home in Picayune, Mississippi.
Robert was born in the Irish Channel of New Orleans. He was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence L. Lombardino and Ruth Siebrandt. He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel parish and school. He is survived by his sister Linda Tortorich (David).
At the age of 11, he moved with his family to a ranch in northwestern Wyoming where he developed a lifelong passion for the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and angler; a skill he learned from his father and beloved grandfather. He shared this love and knowledge with his friends, sons, and grandsons.
He returned to New Orleans in 1950 and graduated from Holy Cross High School in 1954. In 1959, he graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration from Southeastern Louisiana University. After graduating, he joined his family’s grocery and restaurant businesses. He owned and managed businesses throughout the New Orleans area including Rapid Robert’s, Larry’s, The Honeydew, and the R&A. Robert married Carmen Mary Perez in 1960. They shared a life full of love, joy, and happiness for 64 years and were the center of every social gathering they attended.
Robert was a devout Catholic. He enjoyed entertaining, cooking, and sports. Robert started every morning with a cup of coffee, a cigar, and a phone call to each of his closest friends. You could always find him at the head of the table with a glass of wine telling a great story. Robert was a loving and caring father and grandfather, always thinking of his family.
He is survived by his wife, children: Lawerence (Katherine), Anthony, Annette (Randal), “Robert (Victoria)”, Ruth (Abraham), and Mary (William), grandchildren: Bradley, James, Patrick, W. Logan, Carmen, Daniel, Adelaide, Mary Anna, Antoinette, Robert, Katherine, and great-grandchildren: Sommer, Halen, Merritt, and Calvin, niece Erin, nephew Christian, and Cousin Lurline.
