Shirley V. Wise

Shirley Virginia Jarrell Wise, age 92, passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2016.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., Saturday, February 13, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Henleyfield. A Funeral Service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Henleyfield with her son-in-law Rev. Dr. Kent W. Megehee and her Pastor Rev. Vernon Watts officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Shirley, fondly known to her friends as Sheryl, was born July 5, 1923, was a life-long resident of the Henleyfield Community. She was an accomplished seamstress and a master gardener. She enjoyed yard work, cooking, reading, Bible word searches, sending cards, and embroidering. As a member of First Baptist Church of Henleyfield, she was still an active part of the Senior Adult Ladies Sunday School Class and presented the devotional at the monthly WMA meetings.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Joe Acey Wise, and her son, Kelly Wise. Also waiting to welcome her home to Heaven are parents, Bud and Bertha Jarrell, along with her siblings: Lemuel Jarrell, James Jarrell, Benny Jarrell, Trannie "Short" Wiseman, Fannie Pittman, Sarah Anna Black, Pearl Amacker, Flossie Rymer, and Gladys King.

Survivors include her children: Danny & Carol Wise of Henleyfield, Lynn Stevenson of Picayune, and Ruth and Kent Megehee of Henleyfield; her brother: Lamont and Mary Jarrell of Pine Grove; her six grandchildren; Roxanne and Darren Speights, Danielle and Mark Jones, and Natalie and Ross Watkins all of Henleyfield, Jeffrey and Angel Stevenson of Quitman, Joel and Jennifer Stevenson of Picayune, and Woody and Cathy Megehee of Brandon. Also left to cherish the memory of Granny Wise are her great-grandchildren; Camryn Speights, Kenidy Fisher, and Maddix Jones, Jonah and Brooke Stevenson, Sawyer and Kelly Megehee., Delaney Watkins and Spencer Watkins.
