Thelma Inez Tarver, lovingly known as Inez, peacefully departed this life on April 13, 2025, at her home in Picayune, Mississippi, surrounded by the warmth of her cherished memories. She was born on January 29, 1933, in Waynesboro, Mississippi, leaving an indelible impact on all who had the privilege to know her.
Inez was a woman with a heart full of love and kindness, embodying the most beautiful soul anyone could encounter. Her generosity and compassion defined her existence, nurturing the lives of both family and friends. As a devoted mother to Cindy Tarver Carranza and mother in law to Jason Baldo, and Diane Smith, she instilled values of grace, resilience, and love that will resonate in their hearts forever. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren: Daven Robinson, Chasity Spence, Rikki Robinson, Derrick Robinson, Coy Smith, Clay Smith, Andrea Duncan, Crystal Duncan, and Laverna Duncan, each of whom carries a piece of her radiant spirit. Also she’s been Aunt Inez to the many daughters and sons of her siblings and enjoyed the love of them all. She leaves behind numerous great grandchildren who loved her and called her MawMaw as well.
In addition to being a nurturing matriarch, Inez was an active member of her community. She took joy in participating in a local bowling league, where laughter and camaraderie filled her days. Her devotion extended beyond leisure; she was a proud member of Sycamore Baptist Church, where she found strength and joy in her faith, always spreading love and support to those around her.
Inez is also survived by her dear brother, Leo Mills, and sister, Voncille Whitfield, who shared countless memories and experiences that will forever stay etched in their hearts.
She is now reunited with beloved family members who have passed on before her, including her devoted husband, George Alexander Tarver; her cherished son, William Vernon Duncan; and her parents, Thomas "Red" Mills and Bertha Annie Smith Mills. Additionally, Inez joins her siblings, Buddy Mills, Georgia Mills, and Valerie Mills, in peaceful rest.
As we remember Inez, we celebrate a life that truly embodied kindness and unwavering love—a light that brightened the lives of many. Her spirit, though no longer among us, will continue to inspire and guide all who were blessed to be touched by her presence. Rest in peace, dear Inez; you will always be in our hearts.
