It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Vera Lott Stewart, a beloved mother, devoted homemaker, and cherished member of her community, who quietly left this world on February 15, 2025, at the age of 92. Vera was born on November 8, 1932, in McNeill, Mississippi, and where she spent her life lovingly caring for her family.
Vera was an embodiment of grace and kindness, known for her deep faith and unwavering devotion to the Lord and her church family. She poured her love into her home, where she could often be found flower gardening or crafting beautiful creations through her sewing. Vera had a special gift for bringing joy to those around her, most notably through her legendary cornbread dressing, which became a staple at family gatherings and celebrations.
Vera is survived by her daughters, Rebecca Hill (Dwayne), and Angie Smith (Billy); great-grandchildren, Hayden Skantz, Jacob Skantz (Katie), Colton Smith, Elijah Rushing, Hayley Aldridge, and Tyler Aldridge. Her legacy of love and faith will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Vera was preceded in death by: husband Sylvester Stewart, father Otis Lott, mother Suzie Lott, son James Otis Stewart, brothers Douglas Lott and Arlie Lott, sisters Dahlia Jones, Era Lott, and Sherry Warlick.
Funeral services will take place to celebrate Vera's remarkable life, honoring her spirit and the lasting impact she had on everyone around her. Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance and reflection as we pay tribute to this extraordinary woman who touched many lives with her warmth and kindness.
Visitation will be held Friday February 21, 2025, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with services to begin at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow to New Palestine Cemetery.
