Vernia Villneurve

Vernia Villneurve, born Smith, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025, at the age of 82, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Born on November 27, 1942, in Lucedale, Mississippi, Vernia touched the hearts of many throughout her life with her warm spirit and nurturing nature.

Vernia was a devoted wife to her late husband, Lester Villneurve, and a beloved mother. She is survived by her five daughters Vanessa Howell (David), Betsy Singletary, Myra Parker (Gavin), Susie Singletary, and Casey Diez (Jonathan). Each of her daughters fondly remembers her as a source of unwavering support and encouragement. Vernia's family expanded through a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and pride.

Vernia is preceded in death by her husband Lester Villneurve, father LeeRoy Smith, mother Susie Smith, and son Roy Singletary.

In addition to her immediate family, Vernia is survived by 1 brother and 2 sisters, with whom she shared a deep bond that endured throughout her life.

Vernia had a vivid personality, enjoying cooking and cleaning, which she considered a labor of love. Her dogs were her constant companions and brought an exceptional joy to her daily life. Whether in the kitchen or spending peaceful afternoons outside, she infused her home with warmth and comfort, creating a nurturing environment for her family.

Throughout her life, Vernia cultivated friendships and connections that mirrored her caring disposition. Her legacy will be remembered fondly by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Vernia Villneurve will be dearly missed, but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

A visitation for Vernia will be held on Saturday April 26, 2025 at 10AM with a Funeral to follow at 12PM at Benndale Church of God located at 9292 MS-57, Lucedale, MS 39452 with internment to follow at Antioch United Methodist Cemetery.
